		<description>Untitled (2019)
Digital photographs exploring the notion of the net in its physical and theoretical form: a porous border, a carrier, a connector, durable, flexible, tangible and theoretical. The works were presented for &#38;lt;SCRIPT&#38;gt;, an exhibition and digital platform curated by Brittney Connelly at Carnation Contemporary in Portland, OR. The series was presented as a dyptich for the exhibition.&#38;nbsp;
In addition to the works presented, each artist prepared an accompanying workshop. “Consciousness + Connectedness” was held on June 22 and was led by energy healer Dawn Leuck. Workshop description from the promotional materials:What is consciousness, what does it truly mean to be a sentient being? How do unseen energies influence us and what information can these energies provide to guide us in our everyday lives? Are there other ways to consider time and space other than linearly? For this workshop, Katie Zazenski has invited energy healer Dawn Lueck to share insights into her work as a healer. Consciousness and interconnectedness have been the primary motivations for Katie’s work since 2010 when she first discovered Traditional Chinese Medicine and alternative pathways for viewing the body in time and space. For Zazenski, the position of the seer/healer very literally manifests this notion of connection in a much more nuanced, multi-dimensional, simultaneous notion of time and space rather than the conventional concept of the one-directional past, present, future model. &#38;nbsp;
Participants are encouraged to come with questions and curiosities, and be interested to engage in conversation with someone who has a very unique perspective about the experience of life and the forces at play in our everyday. There will be the opportunity for individual time with Dawn towards the end of the meeting.&#38;nbsp;

		<description>Shelley Odradek (2020)

Shelley Odradek is a strategy, an experiment in&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;&#38;nbsp; that emerged during a hybrid remote/physical seminar: “Re–Directing: East x Empathic Pedagogies: Future Intimacies”, at the Center for Contemporary Art (CSW Zamek Ujazdowski) in Warsaw, Poland. Working collaboratively as artists-in-residence alongside a team half based in Warsaw and half in Mexico City, we (Andrzejewska + Zazenski) began to explore what it is to navigate two bodies as one with core values of trust, authenticity, and curiosity. Shelley was manifested through a need to explore the future of intimacy, in consideration of life behind a screen, of love from a distance. Shelley Odradek is a platform for engagement through which we explore questions of how borders, bodies, and ethics play out across our digital and physical selves.

Videos play from the monitor screens and are simultaneously reflected off of sheets of mirrored plexiglass that hang in front of and between the screens. Videos range from 2-10 minutes and loop continuously, featuring animated still images and environments built in the studio with mirror and plexiglass, the audio is sourced from lived environments. The density of information (both visual and audial) progresses from greatest to least, clockwise.

		<description>Machine (2017)

The installation is a response to three core ideas: technology as posited by Ursula K. LeGuin as a social response to physical reality, historic weaving devices, and optic tools for perceptual confusion, blurring the borders between what we see, what we perceive, and what we know.

I I first read Ursula K. Le Guin’s “A Rant About ‘Technology’” about a year ago. It’s a short text wherein Le Guin responds to charges of avoiding technology in her writing, she’s been accused of writing “soft science fiction.” But Le Guin rails against this, defining technology not as “wires and servers,” but as how society responds to physical reality. By framing the term in this way, technology becomes a fluid concept built to accommodate vast dimensionality. There is also something terribly beautiful in the notion that the spectrum of technology holds both a piece of cloth and the internet.III found this loom in Łysa Góra. It was a precarious yet elegant little construction of wood, yarn, and stones that sat on the porch of a small home in a synthetic medieval village. It was a seductive composition of both horizontal and vertical, hard and soft lines. I stared at it for a long time, I took a lot of pictures. Aside from the aesthetic qualities of its form, what really stayed with me was the notion that this is a machine.IIII can’t remember the moment I discovered dazzle paint– the camouflage developed for naval vessels circa WWI not to hide from, but to confuse the observer. Information comes at us through our eyes and then off to our brains where things like scale, directionality, materiality, identity, and mood are mapped out. Dazzle paint is a pattern, a motif, developed to distort visual perception, to baffle orientation. But maybe what it really does is highlight the distance between what we see, what we perceive, and what we know.Machine is a return to the basics, it’s kind of like a beginning. In the space occupied by a duality, between borders of red and blue, the digital and the analog, the organic and the inorganic, there is blur. Blur between the lines of words like technology, machine, perception, form, color, function, network, time, space, horizon, distortion. One, two, three. Light, space, time. Beginning, middle, end. Past, present, future. Red, yellow, blue.

		<description>Voyager (2016)
a collaboration with Olga Mysłowska

The Artists Festival, Zachęta National Gallery of Art

This piece was inspired by the Voyager Golden Record, launched into space in 1977 with images and recording from Earth. Playing with the notion that it is more about self-validation than anything else, the immersive installation was created as a dualistic meditative space. On site, the projection screens were placed in opposition so they could not be watched simultaneously and speakers were positioned in a circle facing inward, tracks bouncing from one position to another, at times at a strobe-like pace. When viewed online, the videos are viewed side-by-side and the tracks have been compressed. The audio was generated by Mysłowska, the video was generated by Zazenski.

All 6 tracks have been compressed for the website and the videos play side-by-side.
All visual content is original (K.Zazenski)
Audio is sourced from the Voyager Golden Record and original synth recordings by O. Mysłowska

6 speakers arranged in a circle, 4 projectors-projecting images onto floors and walls, 2 screens facing one another. The viewer is intended to stand within this space. 15:00 loop

		<description>Varia (2018)

Varia is a series of five books created for the Library of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy, and Applied Computer Science at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (PL), with partnership from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (PL). In collaboration with Zofia Szczęsna.

From the intro text: “I am motivated by the philosophical parallels between a scientist and an artist, ultimately exploring the emotional experience of human communication and connection. Szczęsna’s approach is more an act of translation of pure astrophysical research into visual artworks. One looks up and out to the cosmos, the other looks within and across the terrestrial plane. Both of us work to connect ideas between curiosity, knowledge, time, and space. We look up and out to look in.”

Yet, we have a community, we regularly exhibit new works, we are engaged in local and international conversations, and at the end of the day, have a physical space in the garage of an old communist-style bloc building. So the weight of this questioning (what if we didn’t exist?), in all of its dramatic, existential glory, is very real. We ask it in order to both understand our position and validate the time, energy, and resources that we devote to giving Stroboskop life. Through this painting, we position Stroboskop within the canon of Western art history, where countless other images from stories, fables, tales, and folklore – part fact and part fiction – have been depicted over the centuries for the very same reason in the very same way. This painting is the allegory of Stroboskop. Playing with the art historical styles of both Romanticism and Polish Historicism, we declare our relevance and cement our position in the world. We believe the myth because we have created it. Now, we promote it to perpetuate it.”

		<description>ObjectBodySpirit (2016)

All things arise, and all things pass away. And all things are made up of atoms and vibrations and cheetos and church. It’s about the tips and tools and secrets for living better, for reaching our optimal states of body, mind, and spirit— for visualizing and achieving the lives that we deserve to live: stronger, happier, sexier, fuller, fitter, richer, bigger, brighter, free-er, pure-er, wilder, quieter, cleaner, greener, leaner, smarter, true-er, real-er, in the context of a world that is expanding and crumbling at the same time. It is about managing the paradox.

This is a website that houses approximately 30 sound and video pieces. Each video is composed of five colors which rotate in progression, their rhythm is based on the individual sound tracks that accompany them. The audio is sourced from around the globe in a variety of environments, from sounds recorded on the streets of Beijing to a choral concert in Warsaw to studio recordings in Detroit. Each piece was developed to evoke a meditative space, an environment that would flood the senses and encourage reflection.
